The Secret in Their Eyes Reviews
the story the romance and the ending is just perfect
For a mystery to have this much depth is rare. Love, friendship, jealousy, revenge, loyalty - all centered around a gruesome murder. Worth the subtitles.
Good movie with great acting and interesting plot. It gets painfully slow though.
Mais um belíssimo filme argentino que faz jus a fama, é um desses filmes que a gente quer que nunca acabe.
A complete masterpiece of Argentina's cinema. It has fun moments, although it is mostly about drama and thrill. It is a must-watch which displays two of the best actors the world has right now: Ricardo Darin and Guillermo Francella.
To tell you the truth, i got bored a little.
Slightly distant, but that's one of the things that gives it such mystique. It's a beautiful film.
Um filme com ótimas atuações e sem exageros , um enredo que prende a atenção com estórias paralelas a trama central e bem posicionadas. Gostei !
The lead roles assigned to Darin and Villamil were perfect. Godino was great as the villian as well. It was a sensitive and memorable piece of art which I highly recommend...especially to those who understand the Spanish language and differences within the Argentinian culture.
"This movie is amazing! The director skillfully recreates the social context of Argentina and uses football as a powerful metaphor for expressing passion for justice. Ricardo Darín, Guillermo Francella, and Soledad Villamil deliver fantastic performances!"
Acting was very good
This might be my favorite all time film. The actors and the story are so mesmerizing that I forget I'm watching a movie. It's about a murder and two love stories and the relationship between Irene and Benjamin tears me up, it's so beautifully portrayed. This is a movie that will stay with you long after it ends.
Original and full of weight and beauty
Symbolically aligned with periodical facts subtly associated with striking narrative checkpoints of utter twists and turns, certifying unpredictability surrounding the mostly linear structure's effective flow, this crime thriller is a tour de force with fine performances gripping moral complexity. (A-)
Absolutely stunning. Superb performance, beautiful shots, incredible story. A true masterpiece!
What a plot! So many twists & turns that no one could predict the ending. The acting was terrific, especially Ricardo Darín. One of the best crime mysteries ever filmed.
Amazing well paced thriller with outstanding acting, witty dialogues, interesting characters. The corrupt Argentinian institutions as background. It has also unexpected twists and turns, good suspens . On my list of favourites . Plus Ricardo Darin , the Charmer and beautiful brunette Soledad Villamil ...Highly recommended.
"The Secret in Their Eyes" is a good mystery thriller, but personally I wouldn't put it among the very best. The story is engaging enough and the movie kept my interest by featuring two different points in time. I felt there were great performances and one particular sequence that was very well shot. My main issue with the movie was that the big reveals and twists just didn't excite me that much. Maybe I've been spoiled by some of the top-tier dark mystery thrillers of the modern age, I didn't feel as surprised and shocked by some of the moments near the end as much as I think the filmmakers meant to. Overall, this is a very solid movie with a good story but I just wouldn't hail it as one of the all-time greats.
An interesting mystery/crime film import from Argentina. For not a big budget, the producers have managed to pull this off very well, it's a quality movie. And speaking about quality, the very first aspect that I think is important to note, is the acting, it features great acting all around. Guillermo Francella and Pablo Rago are good, but the pair that are Soledad Vilamil and Ricardo Darin as couple of work partners that have had underlying love between them for long, are just terrific. They really elevate this movie to a status of quality. The cinematography is also good, it's quite polished and the flick is beautiful to look at. And as for the story, it's a curious mixture of mystery and with a subtle touch or underlying romance as well. And honestly, even though this movie tends to change tones, it's overall pulled off right and doesn't wind up being a mess, but an engaging movie. The 1970s costume design is also a neat aspect which caught my attention. But, I really do dare to say that the movie is overrated, it's a good movie but it isn't phenomenal either, I'm surprised that it won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. There's a very present theme of not being able to let go of the past, as well as unconditional love and justice. And speaking of foreign language, I was disappointed to not have been able to find a dubbed version, but only a version with subtitles. Because those subtitles don't catch up with the rapidity of the actors's dialogue, Argentinians being known to speak in a very rapid manner. I think the film could've even been better if we had more time to admire the visual aspects without having to concentrate as much on the late subtitles. Overall, this was a very satisfying movie, I enjoyed it. Recommended!!
