Funny story and reflection on valuing the interior of people

I love this film. Yes there are bits that could be knitted together better.. for instance when Hal is walking down an avenue and his friend just happens to come along in his car.. there are parts that definitely could be tidied up.. but I still give it 5 stars.. it's quirky and feel good and, for me, that's what I'm looking for, in life and in films 🤩

This is the definition of a rom com with some comedy i had too take a moment and appreciate this its truly a movie to experience if you are an empath. I love how the show how shallow people can be definitely plan too rewatch this soon !!!

Definition of what a rom com should be! Iconic movie in the genre and it’s a crime that the score is so low! Shame on yall lol especially since the message is genuine and wholesome

this is my first time giving a review on rotten tomatoes ever and have been on this site constantly for over 2 decades. Despite the low reviews I actually really enjoyed this movie, I know I did as a kid but from re-watching it, it is something I can definitely go back and watch again in the future.

It means well in its considerate message while also assessing our social reactions, finding how it unrightfully been categorized as being insensitive and comedically flawed with inappropriately coerced frivolity considering its topic that should be taken more seriously with no signature jokes, including the periodical cheesiness that might be looked at differently out of acknowledged acceptance. It was good And funny

My issue is less about how well this has aged, rather I think the real problem is that the Farrelly brothers try to have the movie both ways. They want the heart and the cheap fat jokes which I suppose is fine but there isn't a lot of variety in those jokes.

I was extremely shocked to see the rating for this movie. Yes, it's critical but not everything has to be taken to heart. I personally thought this movie was great. Definitely a fav that stays on repeat!!

One of my favorite movies! Of course I can understand that people don’t like it because it didn’t age well. But the truth of the matter is that it is reality. People want to believe that everyone is accepted no matter what they look like but that’s far from the truth. And I love the message of beauty is only skin deep.

This is a good film. Jack Black and Gwyneth Paltrow give good performances. The comedy is funny and not too offensive or outdated. There are even some sweet and touching moments. It's certainly not Jack Black's best film but it's a good one nonetheless and worth a watch.

meh only a little fun

Awful film. I think the aim was maybe to say beauty isn't skin deep, but it actually achieved the opposite with a tsunami of body shaming and fat jokes, as well as deeming kids with burns and spina bifida unlovable to all but the saintly. Just awful. Please don't show this to your kids.

i think it's a great movie. imo, it's always relevant and illustrates a great lesson suitable for most

This film, despite what some of the critics' impression "punches above its weight". On the surface a humorous If sometimes sophomoric lightweight comedy. But dig deeper, it does reveal a poignant, if a ittlle obvious human nature morality tale. I always catch myself watching it again if it shows up when channel surfing. You might not watch it repeatedly, but It does deserve at least one viewing.
