She Said Reviews

Mar 14, 2025

Well-acted, well cast, with tight writing and a vast amount of source material to keep the foundations solid. The story is told well, and maintains a number of different emotional sub-stories throughout, that each bring context and add depth

An important film that needs to be seen and has strong performances.

Perhaps the most important movie of the decade. Forget Barbenheimer, this is the real must-see. The end result is known to everyone, but the thickness of the story takes you over. Wildly emotional by just telling what happened. It's simple to argue what is possible for some, but the cruel reality is that the content of this movie is reality for many - if not most. Understanding is the groundlevel of change, and this movie is an emotional study into a topic every man should learn.

Underappreciated film... It seems it didn't get the recognition it deserved. Maybe Hollywood wasn't so interested in divulge this topic more than we all know superficially?

A must see movie on robust investigative journalism.

Stunning, even though we all know the story very well - this was a new perspective. Although some may say Brad Pitts motivation was questionable, and the NYT painted themselves better than reality - the film itself is a triumph.

It was ok. Aiming and achieving a level of sensitivity to the womens' experiences. But there was too much hand wringing, fingers tensely run through hair, swelling music as a backdrop to a concerned look on one or more person's face. Lack of chemistry/interest in any of the journalists' back stories - although the moments of Mulligan's post partum despair were genuinely attempted and moving. Overall though, a bit boring and overdone.

This is a heavy and very inspiring movie! 20-30 mins too long since there was some repetition at some points, but it was still very engaging and they did a great job navigating such a heavy and important topic. I also really loved the scenes at the NYTimes building, and the director and lead actors did a great job portraying the hectic, emotional and all consuming career that is high-profile journalism.

A great story, an important deep topic do not make a great movie. I disagree with so many great review for movies on delicate topics about mediocre movies

Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan gave powerful performances here. It was an excellent retelling of this story.

Feb 26, 2024

The movie is just too measured (both narratively and stylistically) to be effectively dramatic. Honestly if they were concerned about being exploitative or melodramatic a documentary would have been a much better choice.

Not a big fan of movies about journalism, but liked watching She Said. An Honest & incredible true story and amazing performances by two reporters.

This movie was garbage. I am in no way on the side of Weinstein or what he did, but the boring dialogue and horrible actors makes for a long drawn out POS film. They should be embarrassed by this.

Semms the trailer is made by a pro.

Jan 12, 2024

With laudable performances by the two leads, She Said is an engaging and enjoyable look into an ugly but important topic. The film is one of the more fact-based true stories in recent memory, using actual recordings that speak for themselves. The message is as timely and significant as ever. I would absolutely watch this again.

What utter garbage. Absolute shite!!

I started watching the movie and was ready to turn it off because the beginning was questionable. Yet, as a vulnerable female, I considered the subject matter worthy of continuing to watch the movie, She Said. When the movie presented that Trump's business owned the Miss America pageant I then continued to question the movie's credibility. Trump Entetprises was NOT owner nor partner with Miss America but instead the Miss USA Enterprise. If they got this fact wrong, what else did they get wrong?

I could totally understand why people would be quite bored watching this. She Said is a film about how the #me and Harvey Weinstein debacle that emerged in 2017 which shed the light on tons of allegations. While it was a brilliant idea to make with top notch acting from the main cast and just amazing deliverence in general. But what stops me from calling it perfect is: THERE WAS NO POINT for a film to be made relating to the #metoo in question. It should have been made for the screen in 2018 or something because when the time the film came out in 2022 lots of documentaries and stories had already been released. Now there is just not much audience for something like this because people want something that they can enjoy in the big screen now that they can be entertained by. Be a superhero movie or action or anything like that but with a film like this... If it came a little earlier before the documentaries it would get a lot more audience and it could get the recognition it deserves. That's just my opinion but it's still a good movie that I would recommend other than that nitpick. Grade: A

Important story and message, but truly bad writing and story telling. Frustrating to watch

The movie is a deep dive into investigative surgery opening up the painful truth, journalism itself is often under siege but the truth is more important It works being direct, raw, honest and doesn't pull any punches It stinks so many women suffer in the workplace not just the world of entertainment Takes a lot of courage to talk about the trauma that goes on behind closed curtains but even harder to actually prove it This film realistically gives us a sense of how an investigation is built, sources being confirmed and protected, and documents uncovered It's also more than just putting a predator away; it's also about other things It is about the rage of women compelled to be silenced for years, the empathy borne out of shared experience and existence This plays more like a procedural and prolly would've served better as a streaming feature like Amazon prime video or HBO Max And it doesn't fully make a statement on the #MeToo era But Mulligan and Kazan are pitch perfect as two women getting to the core of the real story and exposing all the hidden facets for real change
