Star Trek: Nemesis Reviews

May 13, 2025

I was expecting this to be one of the worst ones, but I actually think this was one of the better ones, and it was cool to see Tom Hardy, he looked ridiculous, but did a good performance

Shinzon has more drip than Megamind but less zip than Dr. Evil.

While Star Trek: Nemesis gets a lot of flack for what it is, I think it's safe to say that the film has grown on me. While it isn't perfect in the slightest, it does make for a rather entertaining experience. My only criticism is that the pacing can get sluggish at times, but that's really it.

(spoilers head) I kinda disagree with a lot of the reviews here, I think as a self contained Star Trek movie it did a hell of a lot right. Maybe more could have been made of the dichotomy of the 'two Picards' turning out as different as they did and more should have been made of Data dying but I really enjoyed the themes explored, the mind games between Picard and Shinzon and the battles between the Scimitar and the Enterprise, the former being an absolute masterclass in evil ship design.

Despite the performances, it's surprising how Star Trek movies went from a campy positive attitude with moral values to dark depressing, horror movies. Even First Contact had comical relief and the whole thing was about first contact with the Vulcans, and Wrath of Khan has a great ending with Kirk's connection of feeling young with Genesis. This also tries to copy Wrath of Khan's plot formula, but the result isn't positive. 4.70/10.

Just not good. Unnecessary content

I’ve always enjoyed this movie. It’s far from the worst of the Star Trek movies and is even more enjoyable when taken into the context of Star Trek Picard.

Critics wrong again. This was definitely a decent Star Trek movie overall, more so than the critics would have you believe. Worth at least 3.5 stars... maybe even 4 but I'll stick with 3.5 for now.

It could have been a great movie, they had a wonderful villain, an almost unknown Tom Hardy acting better than the entire cast, with more than one memorable scene, an interesting story but a director as inept as he was irresponsible, with evident zero knowledge of the franchise and lack of interest in doing their job well.

So it does fix the production problem of the previous entry. It has much more of a look and feel of a movie rather than a 온라인카지노추천 show. But honestly, I'd prefer the last one looking like a 온라인카지노추천 show over this. The music is just as boring and forgettable. The acting overall is alright by everyone except for Tom Hardy as the villian and a big part of the reason why the pacing isn't good. He is so wooden, whiny, and just comes across as lame that he kills any momentum this has even for a second if it cuts to him. The conversations he as with Picard are so boring. He never is interesting at all. Maybe it's because this was Tom Hardy so early on and wasn't sure how to act but still. The cinematography and editing aren't good either. The CGI is alright I guess and the action really drags in the second half. It feels like a Sci-Fi movie in the first half and a Sci-Fi action flick in the second and just never can make the two concepts work together. This really devolves into borderline mindless action. It feels like the duality of Picard and his clone are almost forgotten about because the action goes on so long. The data subplot with his clone also just feels like an afterthought until the end as well. At least the previous one was a more interesting and cohesive plot. We traded one problem for multiple others. Skip This. Even for hardcore fans I struggle to find a reason anyone would like this.

Unwatchable. It killed the ST movie franchise until the Kelvin reboot.

You can't save a film that has bad writing by changing out the director... the problem that lets down Star Trek films is ALWAYS the writing.. and this film is no different... completely letdown by a story that just doesn't work, and decisions that are just done for the sake of doing them. Not worth watching.

For every good Star Trek movie, there is an opposite…

Star Trek TNG left Picard with a warm, happy ending for his arc. He was able to bond with his crew over poker This movie said "nah that's too wholesome" Now the TNG crew get a depressing ending

I honestly don't hate it despite the fact that it is too grim. I think if they found a way to handle the tone better and fleshed out the themes of duality more the movie might have worked.

Palpable malaise inflicts the crew of The Next Generation exacerbated by Stuart Baird's laborious direction of Nemesis - and sadly, the audience too. The cast's faithful performances make it watchable, at least.

Not sure why this movie is so disliked. I saw it when it came out and enjoyed it. I think it may be the top of the tng movies. I've since rewatched it and my opinion hasn't changed. It's darker than the other tng movies but the franchise needed a change.

It's the worst of the next generation movies I have seen. It's watchable, but lacks something for me to give it a higher score.

I really liked Nemesis. It's not a bad movie. There's high speed driving a rail buggy into a shuttle, Data downloads himself into B-4, so Data is not really lost when he dies and saves Captain Picard. And ships ram each other when they have nothing left to fight with. I really liked the way Diana Troi locates Schinzon telepathically, that was cool!
