Sting Reviews
...[Sting is] packed with scares, goo, and cobwebs in the retro style of the all-ages monster movies starring Joe Dante, Fred Dekker, or Ron Underwood... [Full review in Spanish]

A grotesque, nostalgic and, above all, fun delirium.
| Original Score: 7/10 | Dec 19, 2024
If you’re in the proper, preferably mildly buzzed headspace, you won’t be stung by Sting.

Like most films in this genre, what the viewer gets out of Sting will depend on what they put into it. Personally I think this is ‘one of the good ones’.
| Original Score: 7/10 | Oct 9, 2024
This is not a super scary film, but it’s a fun one, one that could easily be a kid’s entry in the genre, but also one adults can enjoy easily.

There are some solid old-school B-movie thrills to be had, but Sting is less successful in weaving a family drama into its web.
| Original Score: 2 | Sep 4, 2024
Sting is not the most original, but it features some good performances and if you’re an arachnophobe, it should provide you will all the terror you could want.
| Original Score: 3.5/5 | Sep 3, 2024
While it would be untrue of me to say that Sting is a film you should avoid, because there is some enjoyable stuff in there, just know what you’re getting into – especially if, like me, you absolutely cannot abide massive bugs in any corner of reality.

Kiah Roache-Turner’s Sting is a mix of b-movie cheese and Spielbergian earnestness that, unfortunately, yields mixed results.
| Original Score: 2.5/5 | Aug 4, 2024
Roache-Turner deserves a lot of credit for both recapturing and poking fun at the throwback creature features of old. He’s able to have us laughing one minute while making our skin crawl the next.
| Original Score: 3.5 Stars | Jul 30, 2024
Sting certainly gets a few points for at least trying to give us some characters to care about, but like many other horror films out there, what it truly needed was a good old fashioned dose of originality to bring it to life.
| Original Score: 2.5/5 | Jul 29, 2024
A crowd pleaser in all the right moments, Sting is the kind of horror film you watch in a packed theater full of fellow horror fans.
| Original Score: 3.5/5 | Jul 28, 2024
Sting isn’t going to blow anybody away, but it’s got enough legs to deliver a satisfying creature feature with surprisingly strong visual effects. The monster is on full-display and it’s design and depiction are equally terrifying.
| Original Score: 7/10 | Jul 25, 2024
It would be easy to dismiss the film as just another piece of anti-spider propaganda if it wasn’t such a fun, effective, tightly wound creature feature...
| Original Score: 3/5 | Jul 18, 2024
All in all, a diverting entertainment that, unlike so much contemporary horror, is prepared to have a good time. Fun for all the family. Well, all the family over 16.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Jul 13, 2024
… a fast-paced, thrilling monster mash …
| Original Score: 17/20 | Jul 12, 2024
Sting is the cinematic equivalent of a spider bite.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Jul 4, 2024
Sting will remain one of the most disappointing movies of the year, one whose potential is immediately wasted by the time it’s clear the movie will be nothing more than a slightly edgier PG-13 horror flick.

Sting is fleet and nasty. It does a great job of showing Ethan's desperation...
| Original Score: 3.5/4 | Jun 28, 2024
It's goofy and fun, [but] it isn't particularly scary... unless you're particularly scared of spiders.
