A moving film, superbly acted in a perfectly embracing location, which opens our minds to the desperate dementia condition and the refusal of society to allow personal end of life decisions for this illness.

🏳️‍🌈 A romantic drama that follows a mature couple traveling across England in their old RV to visit friends, family and places from their past. Since one of them was diagnosed with dementia, they must make the most of their time together. It is a heartbreaking and moving movie that will tug on the heartstrings of viewers as it navigates the old couple's emotions and dynamics. Definitely a melancholic tale with profound silences that deals with complex themes such as mortality and illness, and the conflict and sadness that comes with the reality of dementia. Colin Firth and Stanley Tucci are marvelous as the leads, mostly with emotional theatrical one-shot scenes in which their talent flourishes. However, the script perhaps lacked scenes to showcase how deep their love goes, and to engage the viewer more with the relationship itself. But the performances are more than enough to carry the whole movie.

A delicate film movingly executed. Uniformly wonderful performances and breathtaking scenery add to the understated power of a middle-aged couple facing illness and loss.

Typically resonates over its thematic poignance upwards a suggestibly eye-opening emotional level regarding acceptance countering the denial whilst reminding the truer essence during the memorably fading struggles, done in a delicate embrace by the brilliantly paired performative chemistry. (B+)

This is nothing short of a beautiful film in every way, the worst thing about it for me was it actually ends and I was left wanting more . Superb acting matched only by the breathtaking backdrop of The Lake District. Tender cruel and gentle but sad humour . Cannot recommend it highly enough

OOF, this one hits hard in the feels. Fantastic acting and the pacing is admittedly a little slow, which won't be for everyone. Allow yourself to sit in it and it'll take you somewhere both beautiful and heartrending. Some folks apparently felt it was contrived or trivialized dementia - I have no idea where they got that because what I watched seem to be very raw.

Stunning performances from both Colin Firth and Stanley Tucci. Very real, sensitive portrayals of a traumatic journey that's faced by many and the stark choices open to families in this awful situation. Hankies at the ready though as it's a bit of a tear jerker.

This is a gently moving film. It features stellar performances from the two main actors, Colin Firth and Stanley Tucci. The last 2 scenes are very emotional. There are some memorable quotes, such as 'being sad something is gone just means it was great while it was there.' It's a thought provoking film - it'd be hard not to feel sorry for both of the main characters. I would definitely recommend this poignant film, yes.

Excellent movie. Great original plot and extraordinary acting. Sad but comforting in many ways.

Moving and melancholic look at a couple's life that faces a tremendous challenge. Its very intimate and absolutely beautifully shot. The characters are really natural. Truly every day people that travel through their past because they are afraid of their future. The acting was great. Colin Firth is fantastic in the subtle role of the partner that may be healthy and will be okay but that faces a certain loneliness he is not prepared for and not willing to accept. Its a beautiful performance and one of Firth's best in years. On his opposite site we have Stanley Tucci, a man suffering from early dementia who want to catch the last memories he can create before his mind is fading away. Tucci is as expected fantastic as well and really got into his role. Watching him and Firth playing off their emotions is just cinema at its best. A true class act for acting. In addition to the two wonderful performance were are invited into an absolutely unique scenery. Great cinematography, beautiful score. Good writing and directing round it up to one of this years most moving films.

A wonderful, tender treatment of a very difficult situation.

Excellent performance by the two leading actors of this compelling post-gay movie. This is a true great love story.

The film is slow, but the raw emotional honesty of the narrative and performances will grip many.

A wonderful love story. Very tender and moving. It started a little slow but the end was very powerful. It left me speechless at the end

For such a serious subject matter, the script for this film is lacking. Stanley Tucci has shown us that he CAN'T act. However the strength of the film is completely lifted by Colin Firth. On a personal note, I'm disappointed to see a film portray the answer to dementia is suicide. Totally unrealistic and what about all the other illnesses that people face? Is the answer suicide? To depression? To dementia? To chemotherapy? To emphysema? To being a widow? To stroke? This escape pill fantasy is just that! A PURE fantasy!
