The Black Phone Reviews
A fun movie but far from perfect.
really good i enjoyed it a lot
A little underwhelming in the horror aspect but the acting brings it home.
So much more could have been done with this as a realistic true crime story. The only "Horror" element to this was the ghosts of his victims. WAY too much coincidental happenstance stuff written into this screenplay to make the story work. You really have do a lot of mental gymnastics to believe any of it works at face value outside of the supernatural elements. Ethan Hawke delivers a great performance here and thats about it.
On edge the whole time, hoping for a part 2
This movie is a terrifying and well-crafted experience. It’s filled with incredible performances and great cinematography. Even though it isn’t the most serious of films, it brings light to an imperative and often hard-to-discuss topic. The writers did a great job translating this to the screen and turning a short story into a feature-length film. While the new content doesn’t entirely complete the story, it adds more structure and gives the characters more depth. The Black Phone is a faithful adaptation that is absolutely worth a watch.
This one pleasantly surprised me. Ethan Hawke was brilliantly creepy, the kids were portrayed as kids, not adults. There was violence when violence was warranted and no punches were pulled. And the cinematographry was elegant and disturbing, just like it needed to be.
Creepy and Good, Worth a Watch
A suspenseful thriller with a surprise amount of hopefulness.
very entertaining! so authentic to Denver for those of us who grew up there!
I jumped out of my seat several times. Ethan Hawke was amazing.
Great movie. Scary for sure
Unnecessary introduction of characters that almost have no place in the movie. Cool idea of a story that felt pretty rushed and poorly executed with a weird pacing. Not great
Overall the movie was excellant but I thoought that the paranormal scenes were unneccessary and created confussion.
LOVE THE MOVIE SM LITERALLY MY NEW FAVORITE
I loved this movie. Very well put together. Takes you back to the 80s and bullies but kids start to go missing and now your on your toes through out whole movie! Excellent movie
Great movie, very suspenseful.
I’m from Denver, CO. So it was cool to see our city represented. All in all I would give it a five stars. The plot and story line were really good. It a little drawn out for what it is but it definitely a see againer.
Always had a crush on Ethan Hawke. Such a Great Actor. Movie was great. Made my husband jump.
