The Green Knight Reviews
I'm sure if I'd gone to school to be a film nerd, this would've been a cinematographers artistic paradise, but none of that really ads up to an entertaining movie. The set designs and costumes are lovely, and the fantastical elements that were sprinkled in were cool in concept, but the whole movie has maybe an hour of actual dialogue. You really find yourself waiting for something to happen, and then when it does, you're left wondering what just happened. If it's gonna be boring, it may as well be nice to look at, I guess.
Movies can be artsy without being absolutely insufferable to sit through. This is a waste of two hours
a beautiful, meditative treatment of the gawain stories
Poor poor movie...one of the worse of all time!
Ending was confusing but great movie still fuck yeah!!
This was the most pathetic attempt at movie making I have ever seen. I see 40 movies a year and I have never seen a weaker storyline, if it even had one. Who wrote this, a tenth grader ? Did they write it for any particular reason ? It made no sense, it had no plot, you never knew if he was in reality or a dream. The ending was baffling. He was praised but STILL got his head lopped off ??????
One of the best movies of the year! 💚 I cried 😢
Just my initial reaction. Could go up or down from here after further consideration.
just don't waste your time or money
an hour and a half in and I was still waiting for it to start
Bizaare, extremely well made poem adapted for the big screen
It is admirable to develop 15th century literature to film but watching the film should not feel like reading 15th century literature. It should also not feel trying to read with a single candle in a world devoud of light. I have never walked out of a movie prior to it's ending ever in my life but when I felt as though a headache was coming on due to eyestrain from fruitless squinting at the screen to try to view the most poorly lit images I had ever seen, I chose less physical and psychic pain over the $12 ticket. The pacing was akin to watching someone slowly die in hospice. It was dark, agonizingly slow and a drudgery to watch......much like life in the 15th century. There was about 40 minutes of film left when I gave up but unless the film turned into Boorman's Excalibur in that time I doubt I missed much. Very disappointing treatment of interesting subject matter.
Fantastic film. Slow but very consistent with the mood and mystical ideas of medieval story telling. Great performances and provocative script. Not suitable for those only interested in superhero movies.
Good movie a little long but had nice story. The sound and cinematography was amazing.
Movie was interesting and All, but it seemed offaly weird and confusing
Potential for a great movie, the last part of film seemed to wrap up sloppy and just thrown together
Super cool and freaky!! Definitely a bit graphic so if you're sensitive to violence/nsfw things it could be a problem, but the visuals were amazing.
Self-indulgent claptrap. Scenes are shot because they look cool, with no thought to story. Story, you say? There is none. I don't mind changing a 600-year-old classic, but have a reason. They've removed the morals, removed the chivalry, and replaced them with nihilism.
BORING! Not real plot development. Snooze fest.
Slow pace details of costumes story
