The Owners Reviews
The Owners is a fairly decent Thriller / Horror. Well lead by a cast including Maisie Williams and Syvester McCoy (yes, one of the 'old' Doctor Who's), the movie certainly amps up the tension as the plot unfolds. Certainly well worth watching for those who like gritty thrillers with a few twists and turns.
It's like a cheap Brit version of Don't Breathe with a terrible ending.
Yes, it's bad in the end. It has a good premise, but not well maintained and off the rails half way
La película es verdad que deja unos cabos sueltos o preguntas sin responder pero aún así la recomiendo, no te esperas lo que pasa y de verdad como fan del género me dejo estrangulando a la almohada por los nervios. No está mal
When you think you see it all u are introduced to this movie 🍿
A group of friends decide to invade the property of an elderly rich couple. However, the robbery becomes a nightmare for these inexperienced thieves as they become easy targets. Unexpectedly, the couple reveals to be two manipulative predators with dark intentions. "The Owners" is a home invasion thriller that bets all the cards in the surprise element. An entertaining story showing us that sometimes hunters become the hunted!
incredibly boring, predictable and i felt like the elderly couple whom were psychotic / killers / mentally ill / unhinged or whatever has already been done before in the 2015 movie ‘The Visit' (when a sister and brother go to see their estranged grandparents only to discover that something is very wrong with them and they become very scared by their bizzare behaviour) and i could very easily see the same trope here unfolding as soon as the movie started, lol. 😅🙄
It was pretty entertaining. It did keep me watching it. Had a couple interesting twists... though it did leave me with some unanswered questions. Overall though, not bad.
More information needed to be given the audience throughout the story for the ending to make sense. The goofy-fat-kid-turned-neurotic-basket case could have been more interesting (maybe in-on-it). Was he? A lot unanswered, perhaps to allow for sequels? Unanswered because the director could not figure out what he wanted from the script. SPOILER ALERT: (I don't like bad guys to "get away with it.")
A great genre flip - about fearing the people inside the house! McCoy is excellent in the sinister roll. Unexpected at every turn.
If I could get through this review without giving it any small fraction of a star, I would!! Horrible! Horrible! Horrible!!
Infuriatingly tedious. The suspense is down to the pacing, not any actual content. And it's not even suspense, it's just annoyance that the main characters can't just pick up a knife.
Sort of a tame version of "Last House on the Left" with a surprise twist at the end. If you're looking for a gory revenge movie, this will probably be a disappointment, but it wasn't a bad film; it's just not your typical "homeowners-get-revenge" type movie. There were some loose ends I wish had been tied up and some facets of the movie that could've been more interesting (the worst of the lot seemed to get off too easy, IMO) but in all, it was an enjoyable film and the twist at the end definitely gave it a "pop". I may have only given it a 3-star rating, but I'd still recommend it.
meh, I was entertained but this could have been better. should have pushed things further. Maisel Williams was great
As our aged anti heroes might indeed say about the predicament they found themselves in here, I found it all rather fun. The kids are united ,but not for long, and they are no much for our two old luvvies Sylvester McCoy and Rita Tushingam,as their hopelessly moronic robbery plot goes badly awry. Should appeal to the Sunday night Poirot crew, and also with enough extra ketchup and a sufficient nod to the zeitgeist ( Maisie Williams ,Game of Thrones ) to keep the youngers away from their damned iPhones , at least for a bit. The English (and Scottish)are still at their best when they laugh at themselves.
This movie has horrible rotten tomatoes reviews but it's actually not bad. Totally different. Look at the credits at the end. They roll backwards 😹 on Hulu 8/10
