Trap Reviews

Apr 25, 2025

Absolutely dreadful. Poor acting, poor script and totally unbelievable.

Apr 25, 2025

Josh took his top off that’s why I have it any stars because the movie was a concert for m nights daughter

Apr 23, 2025

I still have 45 minutes left, and no matter how it ends, no matter what they do...it will still be the worst movie ever made

Trap starts strong with a suspenseful setup, but quickly unravels under the weight of implausible plot twists and frustrating logic gaps. M. Night Shyamalan delivers tension early on, but the story loses steam as believability fades. Josh Hartnett gives a committed performance, and the concept is original, but inconsistent execution and puzzling choices hold it back. A missed opportunity with flashes of potential.

An obvious vehicle to get M. Night Shyamalan's daughter more exposure as a singer and an actress. Is she a triple threat? This terrible film doesn't give us any clues as to the future of her career. The film is poorly executed and the premise is ultimately not that interesting. It amazes me that this film was not only made, but actually distributed.

It had a great story, put a poor execution

M. Night needs to stop making such crappy movies. Please! Sorry I gave this one a chance.

The first half is actually good. A serial killer feeling the walls enclose on him, but playing every angle beautifully to find a way out. However, everything falls apart when the singer plays Wonder Woman….completely fake. Also, I’m not sure why he was sweating bullets so badly since there were so many male adults there. The only thing the FBI get is his info and nothing else since they had no idea who the Butcher is. So, in that regard, that was also a downer. He didn’t have to do what he did, especially how he played everyone so well. once Wonder Woman was no longer in the picture, the movie got better again. The ending was decent and left people what might happen. In the end, M. Night Shamalan couldn’t help himself making his daughter be Wonder Woman kinda ruining what could’ve been a great movie if he did things differently. He’s never been able to replicate the 6th Sense. He’s been chasing that ever sense, but never able to replicate the same magic.

Starts off well, but then it becomes increasingly dull and boring. The dialogue between the father and the daughter is unrealistic almost cringe worthy, the acting is mediocre for majority of the movie (it did seem to get better towards the end). Expected so much more from M Night. I would avoid this one: (. The main character barely has a backstory, the movie would have been so much better if they had explored that aspect of the story a little more. There was one decent twist, but other than that, it was just very dull. You would be better off watching this when it becomes available on streaming platforms.

Easily the worst movie I’ve ever watched. The amount of plot holes is honestly laughable and they get progressively more absurd as the movie goes on. I’m so confused by people saying the acting saved this - it was downright awful?! Honestly seemed like a year 12 drama production, and a pretty poorly constructed one at that. Very obvious from the start that the movie was primarily a chance for M. Night to garner publicity for his daughter and not much more.

Music infused in the storyline overwhelming. But good thriller to add to the list.

The Lady Raven concert film. A fun-first film that blends suspense and humor in just the right proportions, creating an unconventional, campy thriller with surprising mass appeal. It might be a nepotistic push to showcase Saleka Shyamalan’s singing talents, but the result is still a banging M. Night Shyamalan film from his IDGIF era. Nepotism claims aside, Saleka Shyamalan is a talented performer with a great voice and a solid portrayal of Lady Raven. Josh Hartnett nails the crucial, leading role of Cooper, a character who constantly shifts between being a caring parent to a twisted individual with dark urges. There are no doubt ridiculous moments, but they only add to this thrill-ride allegory about Shyamalan’s struggles to balance his life as a parent and a horror director.

The trailer caught my interest but the story doesn’t make sense. The plan was to question all 3,000 men at a concert to find a guy who they don’t know what he looks like. They see him 393747 times during this and he is still worried about getting caught when leaving? I think he would have been in the clear and we could have wrapped the movie up half way.

Family movie night. Very entertaining. Just go with the flow, don’t expect Kieślowski’s Three Colours trilogy, and you’ll enjoy it. Good concept/ set up, strong performances from the leads and a plot that moves along with its fair share of tension. M Night Shyamalan is a writer/ director who always tries to entertain audiences and give them something to think about after the credits roll, speaking of which we didn’t realise that the female lead was Saleka Night Shyamalan; surprised at some of the negative comments from other reviewers, she is very credible and clearly a talented songwriter and performer.

Well, that’s a couple hours of my life I’ll never get back.

I watched this movie and Josh Hartnett does a great job in this and it’s one of those thrillers that’s just a fun time watching and for no reason at all you just like it. See this movie it blew my expectations.

Trap is not a stupid movie, its a movie with stupid scenes. The beginning was quite interesting, everything past the first half was crap.

I was at home bored and thought the trailer on Netflix looked interesting. Shortly into the movie, I’m wondering why the film is basically a concert and I’m having to sit through almost entire songs. And also wondering when anything the least bit thrilling will happen. It’s revealed about 10 minutes in that the dad is The Butcher. At one point he pushes a girl down the stairs then later and explodes a French fryer to distract police. There’s only about 10,000 concertgoers nearby at any given time, all with phones, but no one manages to see this 6’3” dude in a yellow jacket do either of these things and severely injure 2 girls. It was so boring and predictable that I kept fast-forwarding the movie. I don’t feel like I missed anything substantial doing this. At the credits, I realized Lady Raven is M. Night’s daughter and then it clicked why we all had to sit through an entire concert. It was all about increasing her exposure as a singer. Do not waste your time if you are looking for something suspenseful. Josh Hartnett was believable as a creep, though. And spoiler, why didn’t his wife just call the cops on Cooper, the dad, instead of planting the concert ticket receipt in that empty house? So dumb.

I don't get how M. Night can get so many films right and so many wrong. This has an ok premise, but quite quickly turns out to be little more than an extended promo for the director's daughter. If I wasn't watching it on a plane, I would have walked out.
