Trollhunter Reviews
One of my favorite found footage movies ever. Has a lot of fun with the concept and takes itself the exact right amount of serious. Great visuals, great acting, fun plot and characters, and certainly my favorite depiction of "realistic trolls". Great movie, highly recommended.
I could only get through just less than half. This is one of the many cases where a foreign film gets amazing ratings- but just isn't good compared to American Standards. (think what you will of that sentiment) It's slow, choppy, uses the first person camera- which has been done so many times now as to have killed it from being able to be used again, and the way the characters react and interact is forced and nonsensical. I WILL say, if you have a very young child= this might actually be a good movie as a form of escapism for them, but it's not going to appeal to very many adults.
It's unwatchable, it's so bad I decided to leave a comment. There's literally nothing good in this movie except for the setting. The plot is ridiculous, CGI is like in the 90s. On top of all of that it's in norwegian, so you either accept no lip sync or choose subtitles and listen to gibberish. Don't make the mistake I did and just skip it
Great found footage movie, with surprisingly good effects. Rewatched in 2025, and it holds up quite well.
This movie is amazing 100% would recommend to anyone does a great job at looking real and engaging with the story
Some solid work and great lore make up for a lackluster story and disappointing result.
Great troll mythology film.
This movie is worthy of a cult, it's that much fun. Between the acting & special effects, there is no time to get bored. Best of all, there are several species of trolls!
Well, the Blair Witch Project and Cloverfield has a norwegian child. The film is overly interesting, overly monotonous and overdone with the errors of the "found footage" format; in short, it is all over the place. The whole issue of landing the fantasy around trolls is wonderful, there is no doubt about that. But there are many buts. For example, the troll hunter exposes the monotony of his profession so well that it permeates the viewer, what he does has become so everyday that it lacks emotion. Then, the camera shots... they forget that it should have been captured by the students, but then they enter into the vehicule and we saw a scene of the car driving away... so then who took that, and so on for a while of things like this. In the end, it is interesting and totally realistic, so much that when the fantasy element appears, it is seen with the same monotony as the one that gives the film its name. Oh! and not scary, not at all.
I first saw this maybe a year or less after it came out. I was about 11 at the time and still believed in magic and monsters, and loved this entire movie. I really thought it was real at the time. Over ten years later and it's still one of my favorite movies. The mix of found footage with urban fantasy and countryside road-trip vibes really gets me.
An instant classic. Slowly pulls you in and never lets go.
Everything you never wanted to know about trolls.

This was a great fun movie. Gets away from itself at one point but still a solid movie. Now I want more info on troll folklore.
A Norwegian ‘found footage' film of sorts that is reminiscent of Cloverfield or District 9. I tried watching this a couple years back but turned it off when I saw the subtitles, didn't want to deal with them at the time. If you can understand Norwegian or can get over the subtitles it's pretty entertaining. Quality film with nice scenery and good special effects.
Interesting Norwegian found footage of a movie about trolls. I love the cinematography and the cgi for the trolls was pretty good. Some people compare it to the Blair Witch movie. I feel the basics are similar but Trollhunter deserves its own praise for its originality. (https://foreverfinalgirl.com/trollhunter/)
Very enjoyable movie and also fun at times. Trolls are made very well. A bad thing though is the continuous screaming of the characters and the fact that human reactions are not really good
Very interesting found footage movie about trolls in real life Norway. Man if trolls ever existed in real life I would lose my flipping mind. For about the first 25 minutes I actually forgot it was a movie and actually thought it was a documentary. Then I looked at the trolls and the cgi looked pretty bad but eh who cares. What I care about in a movie like this is did it creep me out and was I entertained? And my answer is yes to both those. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I was trying to predict it and it surprised me every time. This is probably the best found footage movie for me because Blair witch got nothing on this movie. I was pretty creeped out by the trolls and man that final big troll was cool to see. What a movie? Yes the trolls looked bad but don't mind that. They looked scary to me. In the end I highly recommend this movie. Great movie.

Trollhunter is a foreign found footage film that isn't particularly frightening, but it is clever. It's an interesting take on Norwegian folklore, featuring fascinating glimpses of the landscape and people of the region. It also takes itself pretty seriously, which makes the subject matter more believable. It's a slow-moving movie, but if you give it a chance, you might just enjoy it.
