Uncle Drew Reviews
Great Family movie. Fun. Funny. Watched thrice recently.
What happens when you try to use athletes for 90% of the cast. Bad acting predictable script worse comedy.
You're average loser comes back in the end for the big WOOHOO!! moment style movie. Kroll's part kept the movie alive really because Irving doesn't do much but ball or talk and Howery doesn't do much either.
"Uncle Drew" is a basketball comedy featuring Tiffany Haddish and Lil Rel in leading roles, centering on a group of former basketball stars who once basked in the limelight. The film revolves around their journey to a championship game, filled with comedic antics that often overshadow the main plot. Unfortunately, the film struggles to establish itself as anything more than a collection of comedic moments. It seems to prioritize humor over substance, leaving viewers with a sense of dissatisfaction. The emphasis on generating laughs feels excessive, detracting from the film's overall credibility and narrative coherence. While there is a plot and storyline present, the writing leans heavily into over-the-top humor, which may alienate the general audience. Critics may have found some charm in it, perhaps due to a lack of better options at the time, but the general public seems to share a common sentiment: the film lacks rewatch value. It ultimately feels lackluster, relying too much on humor that often veers into the realm of absurdity, making it difficult to enjoy at times. If the comedy had been genuinely funny, it might have salvaged the film, but instead, it often comes across as silly and unrefined, rendering the viewing experience unbearable for many.
Uncle Drew is in my opinion a very well written and directed movie, everyone in the cast I highly respect from their past endeavors and accomplishments. Rel Lowery and Kyrie Irving have great chemistry and I truly enjoyed watching them and the rest of the cast engage like new friends who bond to be family, (nothing is better than that). An enjoyable comedy with heart and warmth.
It had the potential to be a much better movie, but squandered that opportunity and it's laughs with a cheaper film that did not get the job done.
Inspired this young blood!
LOL, the funniest 01 hour: and 44 minutes ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think it was pretty fun to watch it I liked it and its pretty good
Ages 13 and older!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL, the funniest 01 hour: and 44 minutes ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Actually not bad at all . Expectations were very low 3.1
It's exactly how it looks. Barbershop meets basketball. No real surprises here. Only worth watching if your a fan of the genre.
Ok, ok, ok, the plot is pretty obvious from the start, but there's still a certain joy in seeing the applecarts of the Assertive Young toppled by the Evidently Far Too Old To Play. I thought this was light entertainment, yes, but pretty fun too. It even includes some seriously spectacular dance scenes from The Young in a night club.
Good blend of NBA legends and a hip hop/R&B track to match. Nick Kroll(Ruxin from The League) is absolutely hilarious as the villain, and Erica Ash is a very likable(in more ways than one) love interest. Any real NBA fan will love this movie.
I didn't even realize that this came out so recently. If felt like it came out ages ago. Anyway, I finally got around to watching this, and it was awful. None of the jokes landed. Most of the cast are athletes. They can't act at all. It's not enough to have a comedian writing the jokes, but you really need comedians to execute the jokes as well. I could have handled the predictable story if it were actually funny. This was a fail.
Shaq and Kyrie did great in their roles in Uncle drew and the story line was great, the market products placed in the movie were good
Uncle Drew is an hilarious basketball comedy movie featuring multiple NBA and WNBA stars like Kyrie Irving and Shaq. Uncle Drew is all around fun and is great for basketball and non-basketball lovers and the make-up is down well. All around, Uncle Drew is a great movie.
