It was mostly a really fun movie. I liked the plot. I liked that it was kind Of a weird campy, horror thriller at times, but also a comedy and a mystery sometimes. In some ways, it reminded me of the movie “brick” — Probably the whole investigating a disappearance of a young girl thing. But the secret society, he uncovered, was lackluster, and the ending was flat. Kind of left you feeling like you just watched the whole movie for nothing. But in its defense, it did keep my attention the whole time and it was fun and the acting was good. Cinematography was good story was good basically until the end.

One of the worst movies I've ever seen most of it doesn't make sense. The only reason you'll watch to the end is because you're hoping desperately that it will all make sense and you didn't just waste 2 hours of your life. That feeling will never come it's just bad, it's so bad.

I think this film is severely under-rated. It has an almost dream-like quality but kept my attention throughout its more than 2 hr run-time. The plot meanders to a vaguely dissatisfying conclusion that asks more questions than it answers, but at the same time feels on point with the film's main thesis.

This was one of the most hilarious and strangest of films. Garfield is so much fun to watch as he tries to unravel a ridiculous and nonsense mystery as equally ridiculous things happen all around him. Its very well shot, the script is excellent, and there are so many subtleties and small details that keep you hooked. Surprised at the negative reviews - if you're into absurdism and surrealism, this is a 10/10.

I really liked. The actors were well chosen, with distinctive faces. The story is captivating, the soundtrack is beautiful, and the settings are always unique. A film that keeps you glued to the screen from start to finish.

Very strange ,stupid ,sometimes kinda gross,decent acting ,but not a big fan andrew rielly ,his head is just too big for his body ,my wife and mother in law thought it was really really bad ,if your really stoned you might like it

The best thing about this movie are the wonderful Classic Cinema Posters that the main character has hung around his flat.... Come on David Robert, give me a break.

This had the feel of something like a Michel Gondry film (think Science of Sleep not Eternal Sunshine) crossed with Chinatown and a dash of Rear Window or other Hitchcock influences. Great cinematic score and gorgeous photography of LA streets and seedy apartment complexes.

I hate this movie. It doesn't seem to know what it wants to be. I gave it an extra half star cuz Riley Keough is in it. I only watched this thing to the end for the same reason. Not even she made this crappola worthwhile.

Film veramente assurdo e mutaforma; in cui Andy Garfield ha carta bianca nella creazione di un personaggio che si fa trascinare dalle più strambe e pericolose situazione, alla ricerca di una ragazza vista per pochi minuti. Sicuramente una sceneggiatura varia sia per sequenze che per personaggi, in cui l'unica costante è l'assurdità di ogni singola sequenza presente. La trama però porta molta originalità e dà una discreta sostanza anche a quello che potrebbe sembrare un film tutto apparenza. Certamente alcuni passaggi restano con troppi punti interrogativi, soprattutto la parte soprannaturale rimane piuttosto avulsa da tutti gli altri argomenti trattati. Film meritevole e molto originale, da gustare in tutta la sua assurdità e con un finale all'altezza delle aspettative.

I watched this movie several times and found new and interesting meanings in the script and/or filmography each time. Garfield gives a masterclass performance in this quirky, underrated, yet thoroughly entertaining movie.

In 2003 my band Ancestor wrote and recorded a song called The Silver Lake. It was on an EP called Infinite Will to Power, the theme of which included conspiracy theory. Watching Under the Silver Lake made me feel that once again Hollywood is aware of what I write and answering back to me. That made it interesting. I didn't think the movie was lacking in craft. But found the denouement unsettling. If your life is stable and you enjoy conspiracy theory, then I think you would rate the movie higher.

🍀 3.9/10 Andrew reading spider man they knew what they were doing. This was intriguing at first but eventually became boring and played out, Andrew was off course great but that doesn’t change the fact this movie dragged hard. Grade C

Sam é um jovem meio perdido na vida até que um dia conhece uma vizinha, a Sarah, por quem se interessa. Porém, no dia seguinte, ela desaparece e o apartamento onde ela morava está vazio. A partir daqui, Sam se envolve em uma trama recheada de mistérios, assassinatos, figuras estranhas, códigos e lendas urbanas. O roteiro está tão recheado desses detalhes da sinopse que fiz do filme que faz com que o espectador faça muitas vezes a expressão que Sam faz: uma cara de descrédito porque a história é tão maluca que ninguém vai acreditar. E os elementos que surgem, muitas vezes não se conectam, como a Mulher-Coruja e o assassino de cães. Andrew Garfield está muito bem, servindo como condutor nessa maluquice toda, mudando de ceticismo para uma total crença, enlouquecendo no transcorrer do filme. É uma história interessante, mas é tanta maluquice que o filme acaba perdendo aos poucos o público, ficando talvez os que gostaram e os que querem ver onde tudo isso vai acabar.

Really enjoyed watching. Had low expectations but came out with wanting to see more of it.

It was interesting to see how thing would go but after a while, the movie stopped following a clear thread which made it indifferent. If it was a clear conspiracy theory movie, I think I would have enjoyed it more.

Interesting story that's really far-fetched and also left me hanging. Acting is descent, but clearly this is a low-budget flick. I was entertained.

An interesting middle-of-the-road A24 film. There were a lot of unnecessary scenes, some noticeable plotholes, and a not-so-great ending that somehow left a big impression on me. However, it had great scenery, cinematography, and an impressive performance from Andrew Garfield. Although the film doesn't exactly hit the mark of the message they want to show the audience, it was good enough, I guess. Definitely not for everyone though, I would only watch if you love Garfield, Riley Keough, Sydney Sweeney, etc.
