Uptown Girls Reviews

Although [Brittany] Murphy and [Dakota] Fanning click, the rest of the movie doesn't click with them and actually gets in the way of this delightful pairing.

| Original Score: 2.5/5 | Nov 3, 2019

Saucereyed and hedgehog-haired, Brittany Murphy thinks, wrongly, that she is adorably kooky as the party girl.

| Jan 10, 2018

A lame, predictable comedy.

| Original Score: 2/5 | Dec 29, 2010

Fanning practically dares the audience to throw sharp objects at the screen with her thoroughly obnoxious performance.

| Original Score: 1.5/4 | Jan 7, 2010

Brought down with emotional manipulation, melodrama, and just a bi-polar mood.

| Apr 29, 2009

The movie is a fairy tale, after all -- one that ... eight-year-olds probably will adore, while the rest of us roll our eyes and count down the minutes until it's over.

'El resultado es bastante mediocre, pues la cinta es bastante predecible y francamente aburrida'

| Original Score: 2/4 | Jan 9, 2004

...an incredibly formulaic setup that would be more at home in a made-for-온라인카지노추천 movie starring Patricia Heaton and that little girl from Seventh Heaven.

| Original Score: 2/4 | Jan 4, 2004

Whether you buy Uptown Girls or not will depend on whether you're willing to go along with its utterly contrived and formulaic plot.

What communicative compromise is there [for Yakin] to go from personal, gritty and well-made films, to such a vapid commercial plea?

Full Review | Original Score: 1.5/5 | Nov 16, 2003

Brittany Murphy and Dakota Fanning can't rise above a weak script in this riches-to-rags tale; "Uptown" is low-rent.

| Original Score: C | Oct 7, 2003

Though I found Mr. Yakin's direction unexpectedly imaginative, and the script often incongruously subtle, I couldn't get into the spirit of all the whimsy, the reason being the surprising lack of charm in the two leads.

It is a confusing experience-a film unsure of what it wants to be
