Vengeance Reviews
A clever film that starts as a comedy, transitions into social commentary and ends as a morality tale. But it all works in satisfying, illuminating, entertaining ways
I went into it blind so that I could appreciate the story as a whole and I really enjoyed it. You see the main character evolve throughout the film from when he first gets introduced to us and I did not expect that ending!
I loved this. The ending was cathartic.
I was surprised by the ending (in a good way). Great watch.
it's a perfect blend. starts with a life of a normal guy finding a Story. then as he talks to different kinds of people, his life perspective starts to change and he finally realised what's wrong with his own life. and he did whats need to be done, started his journey to creat his own story. and the funny elements are just cherry on top.
Dark comedy indeed with a killer ending. Starts out light with a thoughtful heavy ending. Well written. Well cast. Well played
Yeah, what went on? I guess I'm not smart enough
Is it a drama, a comedy, a detective, or a Southern? The move is confused. The protagonist's "heroic" act in the climax was a out of character for him: Unexpected and kind of dumb at the same time.
Vengeance is original, compelling, and entertaining. It takes its time to flesh out its story and characters as it carries viewers through the thrilling mystery of what happened to Abilene. The script has meaningful, thought-provoking monologues that offer up some social commentary alongside dark humor. It's exactly the kind of movie America needs today.
BJ is a genius! Great writing. Unique story line and amazing direction. I loved the whole premise! Very balanced handling as well.
Enthralling, and criminally underrated. The reason it's so good is that it's unlike any other comedy/dramas going. It's not derivative, but not so different that it's hard to digest at all. "100%." Ashton Kutcher hasn't made many good decisions since That 70's Show, but I have to say this was better than maybe other role he's had before. The conversations are natural, but also pretty entertaining. It combines a fair amount of mystery while still remaining true to this fascinating family/town dynamic.
I wanted to love this movie. I had never watched any of the filmmakers previous acting work so I had no preconceived notions or opinions going into this. There were a lot of long run-on scenes, and by the time the main actors are in the pick up truck on the side of the road (twenty minutes in), I had just about checked out. The premise was interesting but the acting and script just needed some work.
If you can connect with the story, this movie is as satisfying as Forest Gump. If not, this is not much of a detective, the plot is too thin. That's why the ratings are so polarizing. You can tell which side I'm on by looking at the stars I gave. Definitely not a comedy.
One word....Brilliant!
This movie barely passes the threshold of entertaining. If you're super bored then give it a go, otherwise don't waste your time. Cheesy with a pretty lame plot, not very funny either.
Very good movie, I think it tackled a lot of interesting themes but I personally think it rushed a few aspects and lost itself in its conclusion.
