Westworld Reviews
Classic scfi movies. Acting is great . Casting is prefect . The story is fresh and unique ahead of its time . A must watch for science fiction fans
To its credit, "Westworld" did plant seeds that blossomed into classics like "Terminator", "Robocop" and evidently "Jurassic Park". But as a standalone film, it's a 5/10 at best. A remake with a tighter script, better pacing, and a healthy dose of realism could turn this dusty relic into a genuine sci-fi masterpiece. Maybe the Westworld series is what it should be? I will report to you once I watch it.
Yul Brynner is stellar in this fun flick! Recommend!
a since fiction classic! But not every ones cup of tea, but not amazing, Yul Brynner's best performance and the most impressive robot performance and he was absolutely increasable.
It gets three stars for Yul Brynner;s absolutely mesmerizing performance as the cyborg gunslinger and at age 53! He's actually playing a sort of parody of himself in such films as The Magnificent Seven, while absolutely nailing the cold-blooded robot's persona. The film is beautifully shot and the sets - actually sets OF sets in this context! - are first rate. It suffers a bit from lack of exposition, a clear conclusion, and a few rather implausible scenarios. What the director managed to do with the available technology, half a century ago, qualifies as brilliant.
Yul Brenner is awesome in this movie, no emotion, yet frightening. NRJ.
Westworld is a profoundly influential science fiction film, introducing core elements like theme parks, machine awakening, and the terror of escape that are prevalent in modern cinema. While it doesn't delve as deeply into the human-robot relationship as the modern 온라인카지노추천 series does, for a 1973 entertainment piece, it effectively instilled a lasting fear of robots in the minds of many viewers.
The film takes a creepy dark turn pretty much out of nowhere. Still, it’s an entertaining movie that surprised the hell out of me. When I saw it for the first time in the 90’s. It’s Jurassic Park with cowboy robots but West World came first. It definitely has the “oooh ahh, then there’s running and screaming.”
"Why don't you make arrangements to take our hovercraft to Medieval World, Roman World and Westworld? Contact us today, or see your travel agent. Boy, have we got a vacation for you!"
Starring Yul Brynner, Richard Benjamin, Anne Randall, and James Brolin, This science-fiction western film is about a fantasy amusement park where customers who pay are taken on a trip of adventure and thrill. The amusement park features both Roman and Western choreography, based on the guest's preferences. In this world, visitors are referred to as guests, and they can engage with humanoids by killing or beating them, having sex with them, or engaging in other activities without causing harm to themselves. All of them are managed and monitored from a central location where technicians, engineers, and scientists assess their actions and changes. However, owing to a malfunction, numerous robots go unregulated and start attacking guests. One of the humanoids is ruthless gunslinger Yul Brynner. The film begins entertainingly, with main actors discussing the adventure they would embark on while being taken to the amusement park. It was nice that Yul agreed to to this minimal role, in which he had a few dialogues but more action to do.
I remember seeing pieces of Westworld as a kid, but I don't know if I actually sat down and watched the entire movie start to finish until now. I've always been fascinated by the concept of this story, and I think Michael Crichton did a good job of writing the screenplay and directing this film (in his directorial debut). However, I do feel like there was some unfulfilled potential left on the table. And even with its short runtime, this movie tends to dwell on some scenes a little too long. Nevertheless, Westworld is still a solid sci-fi thriller with a very menacing Yul Brynner at the forefront.
Yul Brynner was fantastic as a robot, great film.
Must have been a big techno threat back in 73. Crichtons futuristic story set to life, a true embrace of the vivid boundless imagination. Also provides the scary borders of what machines and technology WILL cross in the future. Thought provoking as it is genious.
Yul Brynner played this movie on on sci-fi set for first time.
6.3/10 - More than okay. Could use more dialogue.
Great concept. Dreadful cast. Only Yul can carry his role. One of those movies that gave a part to every 온라인카지노추천 D-lister if the day. Benjamin couldn't act. Can't knock its influence though.
This is certainly a thought provoking film, which was quite ahead of its time (it dates from the 1970s). It takes a while for the plot to build but I liked how we see the place being marketed by a 온라인카지노추천 reporter at the start, interviewing people arriving at an airport, having left the resort. The ending is quite sinister and I think that nowadays, with all the talk of a supposed fully AI generation being on the cards, its almost more contemporary than ever. There is perhaps a bit of a human moral edge to it, in as much as some of the robots were clearly prostitutes and perhaps such people do feel like downtrodden machines at times, right enough. I did think it was a bit cheesy with the way the humans talked at times and also, this is perhaps a slightly 'not here nor there' comment/thought/observation but I did think it seemed a bit random that the music played at the end, while the credits rolled, was banjo music. I suppose it relates to the fact the park is set in the 'ol' Wild West' but still...I suppose I'd assumed/expected more futuristic type music might play? given the film is over 40 years old, it would almost certainly sound quite dated all the same though. This film works best in terms of making you wonder if such a story could actually happen in real life and to ponder the consequences of making money from large scale AI. As a thought provoking film, I'd recommend it but it is pretty dated and so in terms of an exciting, action/sci-fi type film, it may not appeal greatly to you.
Absolutely a brilliant smart sci-fi thriller film with excitement and suspense and Yul Brynner performance as the gunslinger is really terrific and scary.
First time I saw this was a few years before the television show and I enjoyed it. So, needless to say, the television show did nothing for me... which is usually how that goes. Perhaps the biggest credit of this film is the twist regarding the characters, though I can't be certain if it has the same effect on people who don't know who any of the actors are.
