Zola Reviews

Well. A movie based on a social media story... Fairly entertaining, but nothing new.

I have no idea why this reviews so well, its well made but not much happens in my honest opinion.

Paige and Keough are excellent in this indie noir road comedy.

I wanted to see this for a while now. I really like Riley Keough's work. I thought I'd never say this for a movie but awful is an understatement. It had no structure, no purpose and I don't understand how the people behind it came to an agreement to make it. Not all life experiences are meant to become a movie. A complete waste of time. Don't even bother.

Oh Nelly! Reminded me so much of “the good old days” riding around with strangers… but not to this extreme! Great movie done well! Loved it!

Amazing. Had to rewind many scenes!

Not as good as the Tweets that it was based on, but a good primer for anyone who's never seen those and refuses to.

Kinda disturbing. I didn't find it funny.

A wonderful fun Saturday or Sunday afternoon watch. Quirky characters and an intriguing tale. Great, stylish shots. A good bit of popcorn.

The two lead actresses are very convincing and entertaining to watch. The film itself starts off with a bang and gets better. Then unfortunately the writers had to write an ending and it falls flat. Most of it is good though.

Very Entertaining.

This is a movie that understands that nothing is more strange and surreal than real life. Everyone in this is perfectly cast.

I had to soak my eyes in bleach after seeing this swill. It was not just the many disgusting penises either. It was the hideous disregard for any sort of appropriate response to the mental health situations. Acting was dull. Why do people love this?! Another movie that was just a huge snooze fest and I didn't feel connected to any of the characters or the the struggle. Cuz it seemed so phoned in.

Think Sean Bakers "starlet", "Florida project", "tangerine", or, 2017 film "Goodtime" vibe. They are hyper realistic, almost documentary style movies, dealing with small time America underworld, particularly, more often than not, an individuals experience of the sex industry. I am a big fan. It is good to see a female taking on director duties this time. Good cinema is terribly under valued today, but I would hope the movie gathers recognition over time as it gathers a fanbase. These movies capture very contemporary snapshots, of life on the fringes of society, those caught up in criminality of sorts. It's honest and pretty gritty. This combination is sure to create a divided audience, but thankfully, as the overwhelmingly positive reviews have show, this isn't always a bad thing. It's also a social media movie, as social media is a key to driving the plot. I liked the use of sound/ push notification to tie the audience in to that aspect of the film, rather than endless close-up shots of texts or emails. It's good to be different, at a time when ever 2nd movie has social media at the center of its plot. You are constantly reminded of the significance of social media, with out visual cues taking attention away from the characters. Also, I think the film is insightful. You see that the sex industry is a high stakes/ high risk game, but also the huge profits can also be made very quickly. You get to learn the motivations of the people involved, the types of characters you are likely to come across etc. Again, many folk would like to create a blind spot especially for them, and will not appreciate this insight at all.

Riley Keough at the top of her game. An indie drama at its absolute finest. This film takes you on a journey and you feel so satisfied when it ends.

This movie about two women who meet in a restaurant, hit it off, and almost immediately go on a "ho trip" together to Florida, has a certain edgy energy (it's based on some tweets from Twitter). It's set in a sleazy underworld of strip clubs and Backpage advertisements for sex work, has an assortment of oddball characters, and the plot is completely surprising and unpredictable. Taylour Paige grounds the whole thing with her fantastic performance as a level-headed and strong woman who's I'll-try-anything-once attitude fizzles out when confronted with some people who are unexpectedly wild and kind of scary.

I like the film. Nice.

Highly entertaining (though subtly sobering) story about one woman's brush with sex trafficking through the actions of a purported friend.

It's a sexy and crazy movie that is even more efficient when you know is based on real life events. The style and the dialogues are very distinctive (very Twitter generation), the movie can go to some dark place sometimes, but the style keeps the fun despite some scary, disturbing or violent moments. It goes far but never too far. It makes sense in a "based on real fact" way that the ending feels like a miss, things get at the same time resolved and unresolved but as a movie experience it is a little infuriating and you feel the need to Google the story to know more.

What a wild story! And it unfolded via Twitter, no less. I don't think there is any other film based on a Twitter exchange?? I thought this film was entertaining from A to Z. Love the perspective shifts, love the unreliable narrator. Janicza Bravo is my next bet for the director who will go all the way. Can't wait to see what she does next.
