Zola Reviews
Made me believe in the power of independent films again - hilarious, unsettling, honest, affecting, real, original. True home run.
I liked it! I was also on Twitter when Zolas tweets went viral.. so I was able to connect to it more I suppose.
It ended weird and passed by quickly. Not that good.
I wanted to like this movie more because I thought it was more action packed, but it was slow building and the story felt incomplete. I enjoyed the comedic elements, the social references and acting, but I guess this is the result of writing a film from a series of tweets.
hella drama, action packed, realistic elements, hella good movie
I thought it was cute. A little kiki and cautionary tale rolled into one.
This movie will have you on the edge of your seat with laughter and ohhhh shitttt exhilaration
very interesting, I liked it
It was entertaining but started to get very entertaining the more it went on. Right when it got entertaining enough to really get me interested, it suddenly ended.
It was a really fun adaptation of a Twitter story. Amazing to see the progression of films being made from moments I saw personally happen. The movie was a bit short but thats due to the nature of the story. I did have a problem seeing Jason Mitchell back on the big screen after knowing he abuse and mistreated women on sets he worked on. His role was particularly triggering and this is coming from a man.
More 4.5 stars. Strange-but-true story with an exceptional cast. Hollywood would have milked the finale scene, in the motel, for ten more minutes of shouting and shotgun waving, but H. could learn from this economy, and those voice coaches.
Characters I would not want in my life. Except Zola was stand up. I just have to go down the rabbit hole occasionally
Very different movie. Like that there is a smart, beautiful Black female main character
I thought it was quirky and good acting. The end was a bit unsatisfying -sort of left you flat.
Adult sexual entertaining
Started off like it was going to be my newest favorite movie of all time, but after a half an hour it kind of just fell flat and stayed boring the rest of the way. Not nearly as zany as the trailer would have you believe. Too bad..
Intriguing look into the life of hookers and the dangers they faced. Based on real tweets and mostly true lends credence to this dark side of life.
It had all the crazy of the original thread but brought to life with an amazing cast who nailed the accents! Wish it didn’t end so abruptly, but then again, I’m a fan of the original
It was okay. Taylor Paige did a phenomenal job at not only acting, narrating, but allowing the viewer to get inside Zola's head. Very creative cast of characters, quirks and all. Did not need to see the different penises, however am equally glad that Stephanie's coo-pappy was never revealed.
So funny! A24 never fails to fascinate me
