This is THE definitive film adaptation of Peter Pan for me. I agree the special effects haven't held up but look past this for a truly whimsical and beautiful telling of this story. Every character is well casted especially Jason Isaacs as Captain Hook. The man almost carries the entire film. I will say that the kids actually do hold their own performance wise and in high intensity emotional scenes pull their weight. Every scene is well paced and filled with thrilling action and delightful humour. Even my 2 year old who sits for nothing loved watching this movie. I am so happy I get to share it with him as it was a childhood favourite that is still brilliant today.

Visually beautiful! The character of the book is well represented in magic and adventure. The story telling is enchanting and the actors (especially Captain Hook) do a great job. This has been a favorite for 20 years.

Most of the effects work hasn't aged well but the movie crucially understands that the key to making any "Peter Pan" adaptation work is recognizing that rebelling against growing up is an important step on the path to growing up. Wild that so few people have ever understood this.

Listen, This Movie is Cheesy, Has Terrible Green Screen Scenes and Odd Dialogue. Also This Movie Is Very Violent for a PG Rated Movie! However It's very charming and Jeremy Sumpter's Peter Pan is Somewhat likeable and Jason Issacs as Captain Hook was probably the best part of this movie.

This is my second favorite adaptation of Peter Pan, right behind the Robin Williams helmed movie, Hook. This version has got all the fantasy, whimsy of childhood, never-wanting-to-grow-up that you'd ever need in a live action movie. Jason Isaacs as Captain Hook is brilliant of course and I feel that the child actors did quite well too. The soundtrack is to die for. Just watch it!

The environment has become richer and more magical visually, the plot is the same as always, they improved the part where Peter Pan is a "hero" this time, it's not as annoying as in the old animation, Wendy is still adorable, they also gave more personality to the secondary characters and the villain plays his role well.

Peter Pan es un niño que se ha negado a crecer porque la vida de niño le parece mucho más fácil y alegre. Eso cambia lentamente cuando conoce a Wendy y la lleva a La Tierra De Nunca Jamás. Wendy en su ingenuidad acepta dicha travesía, pero ella aprende una lección sobre la familia y que crecer va mucho más allá que solo convertirse en adulto. Lo que esta película plantea en su argumento es más profundo que deja una moraleja para los más jóvenes que al crecer van comprendiendo. Ser un niño y madurar tienen más de un concepto. Peter se niega a crecer por su deseo de seguir viviendo en un mundo de diversión. Ser niño a veces significa vivir en una ilusión y en una tierra de ensueños que solo existe en su mente. El beso de Wendy incluso se vuelve un símbolo de que por muy dura que puede ser la realidad que viven los mayores, también existen cosas buenas por las cuales vivir. Con muy buenos efectos especiales que no han envejecido mal y una hermosa banda sonora compuesta por James Newton Howard, esta película de Peter Pan es sin duda la adaptación definitiva de la obra de Barrie que logra reflejar su visión y moraleja de forma meticulosa. Mi calificación final para esta película es un 10/10.

Time has proven that this is the best adaption of Peter Pan the film world will ever get. It grasps most of the emotional notes found in the original source material. All the characters are true to their original motivations as well. There are a few odd unnecessary changes from the source (changing Liza to an Aunt, chanting instead of clapping, etc) but it doesn't effect much. The heart and moral of the story is there.

It's not like we needed another iteration of Peter Pan, but to its credit, this movie does a good job with the source material. You'll find a certain charm here that holds it all together.
