DogMan Reviews
This is the perfect movie for those days you’re convinced that dogs are better than people—even if that’s every day.

[Caleb Landry Jones] is astounding in this role, so you sit there completely engaged in this film where there is not a single believable moment in it.

I wouldn't recommend watching DogMan for its half-baked rumination on god or forgiveness... But I would recommend watching this if you are curious to see how far Caleb Landry Jones is willing to go.

Besson’s extra-schlocky sensibilities seem ideally suited to his star, but he never gives Jones anything worth showing off.

It’s as big a swing as any in Besson’s career, and consequently, when it wholly and embarrassingly misses, the blow back is borderline overpowering.

With Jones, it’s a weirdly moving, even charming depiction of a man refusing to rail at God but instead using his broken gifts for redemption.

Yes, it continually goes on and off the rails, but then it spits you off into an unexpected, but rather ingenious, place at the end.
| Original Score: 2.5/4 | Mar 28, 2024
The strangest, possibly silliest movie of the veteran director’s idiosyncratic career. It is also borderline brilliant.

It’s the right kind of bonkers for the right kind of audience, a gaga genre hodgepodge

This bizarre and macabre drama-thriller is watchable and Caleb Landry Jones gives an oddly engaging performance...
| Original Score: 3/5 | Mar 5, 2024
Are some elements of the film bizarre & flawed? Yes! But with Caleb Landry Jones' work serving as a powerful heart for the film, one with a wildly charming dynamic with his canine costars, it’s hard not to be taken by this one, especially as a dog lover.

Besson stretches credulity in places with a narrative that combines Taxi Driver with lashings of Lassie but gives his film the grimy sheen of a graphic novel.
| Original Score: 4/5 | Sep 1, 2023
It’s often ridiculous in what I think are unintentional ways.

If “Dogman” has very little to say, it coasts on style amiably enough, showcasing another gonzo turn from Caleb Landry Jones, and presaging Luc Besson’s return.

Picture Joker crossed with the Children’s I온라인카지노추천 series Woof and you will be some of the way towards grasping what the Fifth Element director has cooked up for what is ostensibly his comeback picture...
| Original Score: 1/5 | Aug 31, 2023
While this film probably needed more time in the storytelling doghouse, Landry Jones’ performance is a lovely watch.
| Original Score: C | Aug 31, 2023
It’s a lot to handle and also silly, but Besson often pulls it off — thanks in no small part to a commanding performance by the chameleon-like Caleb Landry Jones, who manages to be touching and slightly terrifying at the same time.

Bludgeoningly obvious, creatively inert, deathly dull...
