Marina Ashioti Little White Lies This is a confident debut, clearly extensively researched, put together with great care and makes for a welcome addition to the canon of queer period dramas. Aug 29, 2024 Full Review Frank J. Avella The Contending Lilies look is reminiscent the cinema of Merchant Ivory, especially Maurice, but Seefried’s tonal and genre shifts are jarring leaving the viewer feeling as traumatized as the onscreen characters—but, perhaps, that’s exactly the point. Rated: B Dec 19, 2024 Full Review Jack Walters Loud and Clear Reviews Lilies Not For Me is a gut-wrenching drama that revisits a neglected, dark period in queer history through the hazy lens of a complex love triangle. Daniel M Beautiful. Lovely. Sad. Hard. MASTERPIECE. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/23/25 Full Review Ty N The writing has credibility issues. The main character (played by Fionn O'Shea) reluctantly consents to a horrific crime, to serve a horrific purpose. Though he is portrayed as protagonist and victim, his decisions and actions do not reflect a strong conscience. The story has numerous narrative sinkholes that require suspension of disbelief, facilitated by an attractive cast, solid performances, and flawless cinematography. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/13/25 Full Review Wendy R Beautifully heartbreaking. This film tells an important and gut wrenching story about men who are forbidden to love. The story grabs you like a vice, the acting is perfect and the film is so visually stunning, you’ll feel as if you’ve fallen into a painting. Fantastic job, Will Seefried. The first of many more, I hope. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/06/25 Full Review Read all reviews
