Tombstone Reviews
This Western movie was really good. Kurt Russell, Val Kilmer, Sam Elliott, Michael Biehn, BIll Paxton, Dana Delany, Powers Boothe, and the rest of the cast did an excellent job in this movie. This true story about legendary lawmen Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday was dramatic, action-packed, and thrilling. It's about holding up the law and taking down the cowboy gangs. If you haven't seen this movie yet, check it out sometime. It's a definite must see.
Val Kilmer was fantastic as Doc Holliday. In fact, he steals every scene he is in. The rest of the movie can be fast-forwarded, as it is that bad. Kurt Russell and Stephen Lang are embarrassing to watch. Completely fictitious representation of events. Tired of Earp being portrayed heroically as he was essentially a thug for the wealthy capitalists and later tirelessly worked to establish his own myth.
Best western movie of all time. I watched this for the first time. Rest In Peace Val Kilmer
"Tombstone" is not just a movie, it's a cinematic masterpiece that has stood the test of time and remains my absolute favorite film of all time. The standout performances of Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday and Kurt Russell as Wyatt Earp are nothing short of legendary, and their on-screen chemistry truly brought the characters to life in a way that is both captivating and unforgettable. Val Kilmer's portrayal of the complex and charismatic Doc Holliday is a true standout in the film. His performance is nothing short of mesmerizing, capturing the essence of a man torn between his loyalty to his friend Wyatt Earp and his own inner demons. Kilmer's portrayal is both nuanced and powerful, making Doc Holliday a character that lingers in the mind long after the credits roll. Kurt Russell's portrayal of Wyatt Earp is equally impressive, showcasing the legendary lawman's strength, determination, and unwavering sense of justice. Russell brings a sense of gravitas and depth to the role, perfectly complementing Kilmer's Doc Holliday and creating a dynamic on-screen duo that is truly unforgettable. But what truly sets "Tombstone" apart for me is the special bond between Doc Holliday and Wyatt Earp. The film beautifully explores the complexities of their friendship, highlighting their unwavering loyalty to each other in the face of danger and adversity. The chemistry between Kilmer and Russell is palpable, adding an extra layer of depth and emotion to their characters' relationship and making their bond the heart and soul of the film. In conclusion, "Tombstone" is a timeless classic that continues to resonate with audiences for its stellar performances, gripping storytelling, and unforgettable characters. Val Kilmer and Kurt Russell's portrayals of Doc Holliday and Wyatt Earp, and their special bond, are the true highlights of the film, making it a must-watch for anyone who appreciates great cinema.
On the day Val Kilmer passed away, Hulu recommended this film. I watched it long time ago so decided to check it out again. Follows Wyatt Earp and his friend Doc Holliday when he retired after being a peacekeeper in Dodge City Kansas. Retires at Tombstone AZ. Only to encounter a band of baddies called the cowboys and fighting ensures. Is Lisley based on actual events including the shooting at the OK corral. Story is weak 🍿🍿🍿/5 on Hulu
OK I've never really had an interest in the film. I of course heard it was a good film. Does not make me want to see any film just because you've heard it is good. Sad reason I finally saw the film in 2025 was the death of Val Kilmer. We can count the number of 1990's actors in it: Dana Delany, Jason Priestley, Thomas Haden Church Two actors who worked together on The Terminator & Aliens: Michael Biehn, towards the end of his fifteen minutes, and the late Will Paxton Actors early in their careers: John Corbett, Aiden from Sex and the City. So a plus to this film is the strong cast. Kurt, Sam and Val giving top notch performances. I had little knowledge of the story of the people who's story this is about. Disadvantage to me there. For me besides the acting by the leads the shoot outs are the feature here. A nitpick: Did NOT need at see characters spitting all the time. Once for the effect. So a good film overall.
It's not up there with the all-time greats of the genre, however, there's plenty to like about Tomstone. It captures the events and span of quite some time well in just 2 hours. Also, rest in peace Val Kilmer, the one and only Doc Holliday.
This movie doesnt do it for me, ttryed more than once. I guess when you grow up with Butch and Sundance and John Wayne nothing else comes close, i cant stay awake for Tombstone, lol, some great actors but no real cowboys there
Legend. Tombstone is a 1993 American Western film directed by George P. Cosmatos 🪦 Not bad, but not my favourite either 😐 Meh, it passed the time. Just. 😐 👍🏼👎🏼. Legendary marshal Wyatt Earp, now a weary gunfighter, joins his brothers Morgan and Virgil to pursue their collective fortune in the thriving mining town of Tombstone. But Earp is forced to don a badge again and get help from his notorious pal Doc Holliday when a gang of renegade brigands and rustlers begins terrorizing the town.
Never gets old on a rainy or snowy day to watch.
The whole movie they tried answering why to live life. It didn't feel to me like they gave either a full answer or the right one. Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer are great. Especially loved Val though. Good movie. 8.5/10.
A very good movie.
This film boasts and absolutely stacked cast, The characters are by far the best part of this movie, and the costume and set design are great. It manages to be a western action film as well as a light hearted romantic comedy. Any fan of these genres would enjoy atleast some aspects of this movie. Definitely worth a watch
Watched this movie last night after hearing of Val Kilmer’ s death. Wow what a great movie. Wished I watched this movie many years ago.
I've watched this three times over the years. It turns out that the story is almost entirely true as depicted in the movie. There is a lot to the story in the lead up to the gun fight, the fight itself, the long aftermath, and so the movie feels like it drags a bit near the end. Even the young "beautiful" actress that is hooked up with the town's sheriff - true. A very good movie overall, but the costuming is severely overdone. Everyone is wearing utterly pristine, very elaborate clothing that looks almost like a spoof. The acting is greatly overdone. It feels like a B-grade script from the 50s. That said, I still enjoyed the movie. Val Kilmer, Powers Boothe, and Michael Biehn are superb in this. Note that the Cowboys gang that the Earp brothers fought gained enough notoriety that US President Chester Arthur got involved. JP Morgan was trying to build out portions of the US railroad system and couldn't get investors to because the crminal Cowboy gang was so active that investors were spooked. Only when the Cowboy was finally killed, jailed, disbanded, could JP Morgan proceed.
An interesting take on Westerns, Kilmers performance carries the movie. The plot is messy as most westerns are. A great introduction into the world of Westerns that will make you want to buy a cowboy hat.
Val Kilmer was never better or cooler than this. Worth a a watch just to see him huckleberry the screen up.
Tombstone is pretty much the complete package I look for in a film - great cast, fantastic dialogue, immersive world building and an entertaining plot line. Val Kilmer absolutely steals the show as Doc Holliday
Best movie ever made. The fact that Kilmer didn’t win an Oscar is a Travesty but even worse; he wasn’t even nominated.
I don't care if you like westerns or not this is an epic movie everyone needs to see
