V/H/S/99 Reviews
Throughout this movie, my reactions were constantly flip-flopping between being genuinely impressed, really irritated, a little bewildered, and guiltily enjoying myself.

The two segments in the middle of V/H/S 99 completely drag the movie down from really good to bad. Ozzy's Dungeon and The Gawkers segments have no elements of horror in them. They feel like a poorly executed attempt at comedy that's not funny at all.

V/H/S/99 amps up the comedy and the mercilessness while going in a new direction that is not only true to the series’ aims, and the time period in which it is set, but is a challenge to its audience.

At a 108 minutes runtime, V/H/S/99 might test the patience of some viewers. Still, this is the best the franchise ever gave us, and we can’t wait to see what new horror V/H/S/85 will bring us next year.

The idea of urban legends in V/H/S/99 feels like the first wave of internet folklore just prior to the emergence of creepypastas and other forms of internet storytelling.
| Original Score: 4.5/5 | Nov 22, 2022
Each segment has something genuinely brilliant and is sure to impress whether this is the first or the hundredth found-footage flick you see this year. You're in for one hell of a good time 🤘📼🤘
| Original Score: 8/10 | Nov 2, 2022
While less ambitious than its predecessor, this uneven but decent fifth entry in the found-footage V/H/S anthology series offers enough shocks and brutal creativity to make it worth a look.

Horror buffs know the drill — it’s a V/H/S film and your mileage may vary — but there’s some great and visceral stuff to be had.

V/H/S/99 is not the best in the series but it’s an appropriately squishy and obnoxious tribute to the dimwitted Y2K era
| Oct 26, 2022
Overall, the anthology shows that horror is alive and well and that imagination is limitless.
| Oct 26, 2022
...yet another memorable installment in what's arguably the greatest found footage franchise in the subgenre.
| Original Score: 8/10 | Oct 26, 2022
Creativity is mostly lost on this anthology series as odds are most segments are going to end with ‘…and then the demon shows up.'
| Original Score: 1.5/4 | Oct 26, 2022
Two installments, especially "To Hell and Back," are among the series' best.

I was just howling and thinking "Wow, Flying Lotus... Your brain is very weird."
| Oct 24, 2022
Not ever minute is a winner, but it has enough to justify its length, all culminating in the final segment which most perfectly grasps Y2K fear, horror, and comedy.

V/H/S/99 is a passable new entry into the horror franchise, but a step down from the prior installment.
| Original Score: 3/4 | Oct 24, 2022
Due to an absolute lack of ability within its execution, V/H/S/99 disappoints its strong ideas to create a final project that is both frustrating and disappointing.
| Oct 23, 2022
V/H/S/99 demonstrates anew that neither big names nor big dollars are necessary for worthwhile anthology horror – the right ideas and the right attitude will win out every time.
| Original Score: B | Oct 22, 2022
Each segment runs too long; and none of them has the kind of killer ending an anthology film deserves. But they do all deliver what they promise: a 1999 look and vibe, with moments designed to make audiences squirm.

For fans, there’s plenty to like here. [But] if this is going to become a new holiday tradition let’s hope they start taking more chances.
