A Dog of Flanders Reviews
Great, wholesome family film. More like this should be made today.
Enough spirit and the right attitude, but the rest of the essential elements of a successful movie just are not here.
a disney ending where all is not lost. the real story was much more heart-wrenching than this one... loved the adorable baby Nello.
this was a cute movie, although the acting & editing at times were low in quality. Jack Warden put on what may be the best performance that i've ever seen from him.
I didn't hate this movie, but at the same time I didn't love it. Like all americanized/Hollywood adaptations of great tragic books like "dog of Flanders", they tend to makes some bad twist and turns which includes ruining the tragic ending. For what what it is worth, it is a very well done adaptation of the book, a good watch for the entire family, but for the fans of the book don't get your hopes up, the anime adaptations of the book have been done more perfectly than this.
This movie fucked me up when I was eleven, and it's still fucking me up today. It's still incredibly depressing, even if it's not meant to be, and despite the beautiful locations. I remember crying over it when I was younger, and though I didn't cry this time, it still broke my heart on at least five separate occasions in its 96 minutes. Everyone in this movie is lovely - except Patrasche, who's just gets in the way and adds nothing to the story. Ironic, isn't it?
It is a heart warming film. Anyone who loves art , dogs , and family will love to see this adaptation to the original book
I gave this 4 stars since that's how I felt after I first saw it years ago, before I knew about the original story. Yes, this rendition is a little more optimistic -- to the point of altering the ending -- but I thought it was a really interesting idea to have Rubens be one of the main characters and to tie him into Nello as they did.
I remember seeing this due to my mom told me about because of a young boy trying to be an artist, or should I say is an artist, a heart warming film.
a nice movie some sad parts and happy. it shows u u can really do what ever u want as long as u try!
