The Gray Man Reviews
Watched a couple of times, action packed!
This action thriller was entertaining on the whole. It was somewhat predictable, but deserves some credit for keeping the characters loose and unique. The Grey Man himself is too 'superhero' like. Dani Miranda (de Armas) was a scene stealer, and I liked that the film developed her character more than I expected late in the story. The torture and brutality of the antagonist toward the end was overkill and the fight at the end a bit much. Overall good stuff, and the chase scenes were unique.
I've really enjoyed watching this movie. A lot of action and Ana de Armas. This is personally for me a prequel for her Ballerina movie. Of course the main character is a badass as well. The only thing that started to annoy me at some point, was the drone shots. Too many and too crazy at some point. Beside that this movie was very good. Oh and off course Chris Evans as a psycho villain. What disappointed me with this movie is the the ending. The main villan (not Chris Evans) got away with all the bad things that he did. I was hoping for the memory card to be switched by Ana de Armas character at some point. Oh well. Still, I can recommend this movie.
A story of a bad man choosing to do the right thing. It gets increasingly hard to do a great action flick these days. Ryan Gosling does a good job of playing a man that has made a bad choice multiple times in his life. He's a more complex character if you care to look. Perhaps the best part for me was Chris Evans playing and out of control villain. The man has incredible range as an actor. I liked the action scenes. A little more character development might be called for in further movies.
Like the Russo’s other Netflix exclusive, The Electric State, I was pleasantly surprised by how underrated The Gray Man is. Committed cast, tight script, dynamic visuals and enthralling action, this film has the salient qualities that made the filmmaking brothers the darlings of Marvel! I recommend it!
Loved every second, the story is amazing.
All flash, no substance. An empty spy chase movie connecting one violent scene after the other. Playing a videogame would have been more entertaining than watching this.
The disparity between the Tomatometer and Popcornmeter is telling: this film is very entertaining, and that is an entirely valid reason to watch cinema. It seems to me that the critics who panned it brought their near-sighted lenses to an image that is best-savored from a panoramic perspective.
An amazing action packed film - really can’t understand the critics; feel they might need to up their meds! Enjoy the film for what it is and stop drawing comparisons - this film is far from Gray and is an explosion of action and excitement. 10/10 in my books (for those critics still doubting, Zirtek might help - seems you’re allergic to good films!)
Although many things about this movie were unfocused and many of the action scenes hard to see, due to taking place at night/dark places, Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans still made it really entertaining to watch. With a few improvements here and there this could have been alot better. Maybe in the sequel... But it is still worth the watch. You will have fun for sure. Just don't expect the same quality the Russo brothers brought with Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
I have to go with the critics on this one. Story line was good till the stupid ending. The locations were fantastic and the acting was good as you expect from such big names but thay are the only good points . Writing and fight choreography is crap. I am all for a little bond like exaggeration but this has so many holes it becomes ridiculous. Save yourself two hours and watch something else.
The grey man was a great movie. I hope see a part 2.
Just plain fun - the story isn’t the most believable, but that’s kind of the point. Over the top conspiracy/action and if you like Gosling and Evans, this popcorn flick will keep you entertained the whole way through.
Gosling charismatically undergoes a Bourne experience and Evans sanely mimicking Jim Carrey as an edgier version of himself, this conspiracy action thriller drowns sequentially, besides a problematic screenplay, with minimal satisfaction stemming from the familiar viewing routine which is rather the more successful formula than the generic reliance. (B)
Cliche start to finish. Over acting and ridiculous action scenes. The background music is disturbing as well.
Please ignore these “professional” critics opinions. Their critique of this film is absolute garbage. Ryan gosling plays a fantastic part as does ana de armas as does Chris Evans. great storyline and action packed. I have watched this film multiple times and have just finished watching it again. enjoyed it just as much as the first time watching it. Don’t get hazed by critics with their fancy words, they act as if they have a clue what they’re talking about but really they’re just boring writers that can’t actually write anything of substance so they review films. Directors should pay no attention to critics and rather look at the numbers. This film was and is a huge success. Can’t wait for gray man 2 Notice audience reviews rate the film highly while these “professional” critics don’t. Simply put they’re Losers.
Just a fun action thriller with a great cast. The dynamic between Ryan Gosling and Claire Butters is fantastic. Not to mention Chris Evans as Lloyd Hansen is a great bad guy. The dry humor in this movie made me like Gosling even more.
If you like a James Bond feel, you'll love this!
Gosling can carry any movie. Throw in Evans and Billy Bob, it's enough. Great locations, good action. People knocking this movie are looking too hard to find faults.
