In Her Shoes Reviews

Adapted from a best seller by Jennifer Weiner, this tends toward petty audience manipulation, though Diaz and Collette strike sparks in the early scenes.

A feel-good film of the highest order.

It's hard to believe chick flick tripe like this was even revered with critical praise, but it happened.

| Original Score: 2/4 | Apr 29, 2009

"In Her Shoes" is an unbalanced movie that teeters between saccharine fluff and preachy self-help sentiment.

| Original Score: C- | Apr 15, 2009

Cluttered and predictable; but laced with laughs and enough of an emotional payoff to make it all worthwhile.

When it comes to offensive depictions of disability, even with its abundance in movies, the silence can be really deafening, no pun intended.

A Hollywood movie that feels real; one that engages the tear ducts and the mind.

A simple yet rich drama played with humour and compassion and blessed with excellent performances.

Considering it doesn't star Maggie Smith or Judi Dench, it's surprising how mature and moving this female-focused drama is.

...the movie loses focus, meanders, and changes tone at the drop of a wine glass, but it can be touching and revealing, too.

| Original Score: 6/10 | Feb 1, 2006

Una comedia dramática moderadamente disfrutable si bien previsible, donde Toni Collette y sobre todo Shirley MacLaine elevan el interés.

...comes off as an honest and believable piece of work...

[Diaz] is the reason that In Her Shoes works as the perfect date movie. Women will fall in love with the story and men will fall in love with her. It's win-win.

The dialogue is exceptional -- bruising, funny, wise, with the directness that only siblings can inflict on each other.

You know where this is going, but it is done well. Curtis Hanson who directed L.A. CONFIDENTIAL and WONDER BOYS manages to make this one work

In between the first 20 and last 20 minutes this is an excellent film. Absolutely top notch dialogue -- smart, biting, and very well delivered.

| Original Score: 2.5/4 | Jan 11, 2006

Easily feels predictable, but the movie did such a good job in making me angry with these characters that I began to genuinely pull for them when they started to become better people.

| Original Score: 7/10 | Jan 2, 2006

For such a serving of yet another chick flick, In Her Shoes certainly has a fanciful bounce in its forceful step.

| Original Score: 3/4 | Dec 20, 2005

I think one reason this movie is so appealing is that it's the anti-Sex and the City-its earnestness and relative lack of rank bawdiness or cynicism seem novel in the present pop-culture atmosphere.
