Simple M An embarrassing disservice to the screen legend by a filmmaker seemingly more intrigued with herself than the subject matter. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/19/25 Full Review Robin L Someone decided to try an unorthodox and theatrical approach to this biography, and it's absolutely cringe inducing. Why? Couldn't they see that those parts clearly didn't work? They'd have done so much better to just show photos or film clips of her and have voice-overs that were blessedly free of being "acted". But if you're willing to suffer through the approach, there is information about Garbo that's worthwhile. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/18/25 Full Review P B If you cut out the terrible blond actress and the weird mask bullshit, you might have a pretty interesting 60 minute documentary. As it is, I quit 45 minutes in. I just couldn't endure it anymore. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/18/25 Full Review Carlotta V I was intrigued to find out more about the mysterious Swedish Superstar. From the opening frames of the bizarre mask, to the absolutely dreadful acting and narrating by the blonde woman, it was so strange and unusual. She was also trying to act with her fingers while supposedly reading. (How did she get that part? Does she have incriminating Polaroids of the producer or something?) I thought, "Oh, we're in trouble here". I decided to power through anyway, but ultimately, Blondie was too much to bear. My head kept saying, "Somewhere, someone is sick of her S***". I turned it off after 25 minutes. It's not worth the effort. The director made a number of exceptionally bad choices on this project. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/18/25 Full Review Robin C This documentary was horrible. Not sure who the fake blonde was but she might benefit with some acting classes. The cadence of her voice, her movements, and sometimes inappropriate facial expressions almost made me exit the documentary. Even worse were the fill in scenes with the mask. I believe the film was trying to represent what they perceived as the 2 sides of Garbo. But using a tedious mask just feeds into the notion that she did not control her life, and did not make a conscious decision to have a private life. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/18/25 Full Review Sherman S Bizarre. If you could eliminate the “actress”/“narrator” from it, it might be watchable. Every part she was in was juvenile and silly and mot worthy of or even suited to the subject. How could this be produced with not a single person eliminating that “performance”? Other similar odd scenes are also utilized, also to great detriment to the subject. Netflix should be embarrassed to air this. I had to fast forward through the actress’ silliness and poor performance. Then thankfully I fell asleep. Shockingly poorly done. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 05/17/25 Full Review Read all reviews
